Almost 70 people attended Fridays rally on US1 near the University of Miami Entrance. Participants waved signs at the drivers passing during rush hour, many of whom shared their support with a honk of the horn. The honk and wave sent a message that the Miami Pine Rocklands Coalition and its supporters disapprove of the University of Miami's mis-handling of the Pine Rocklands and of its sale to RAM Reality. The Coalition was joined by groups such as OURwalmart who opposes Walmarts treatment of its employees and its environmental record. This rally has an equally important follow-up rally on Tuesday March 3rd at the Miami-Dade Commissioners meeting. The Commissioners which have yet again delayed a vote to declare the Richmond Pine Rocklands a blighted slum are expecting that delaying the issue will dilute the support of the Coalition. It is important that the Coalition continue our campaign to Rock the Commission! Continue to email your commissioners make sure to tell them your address so that they know you are speaking as a voter in their district. Ask your friends and family to email them as well. Join the coalition on March 3rd and show them that we won't back down. Continue to share the Coalition's message with everyone. Send your pictures from the rally to Admistrator@miamipinerocklandscoalition.org.
